Sindh has suffered from various crises over the years in the shape of political instability, illiteracy, corruption, injustice and feudalism among them water shortage is a prime concern for locals, because its lacking is cause great anxiety among people. The water is a source of livelihood and survival of the people of Sindh. It is a prime need of humans. As Sindh always remains under the looming threats of water shortage because of its location and water consumption.

Most of Sindh’s land are based on agriculture and their prime source of livelihood is livestock and irrigation. They gain a hefty amount of capital from livestock and harvesting agricultural lands. Their lands are lavish, brimmed with fertile crops and useful resources, and they generate valuable profits from it. Among them the biggest factor in the reduction of production, is the water shortage it is because water canals are built on river Indus which is causing threat to the survival of people and possible land infertility. The water scarcity is creating barren lands and production of crops is heavily affected by it.

The Indus river is already divided into multiple tributaries and the flow of water of Indus river is allocated with the respect of the territory. However, the fact is that according to the laws and ordinance they are not receiving water of their equitable sharing. The reason is the lack of solid infrastructure to divide water into the respective lands. And another one is building additional canals on the rivers. It is creating serious shortage in the lower areas of Pakistan especially in Sindh and Balochistan because of their geographical location. But constructing canals on Indus river will further exacerbate the crisis and make it worsen. These people are already demanding water supply because they are devoid of their promised demands. In a result their lands are becoming barren and infertile. Because of this many times people of Sindh showed strong resentment and protest for not getting enough water and supplies for their land. However, it is essential for the government and water board to consider the demands of locals seriously and pay heed to the issue and solve it as quickly as possible in order to avoid barren of lands and wastage of crops.
