Historical View of Raja Dahir and Muhammad Bin Qasim

Sindh is land which became victims of mighty empires over time. It came under the domination of various empires. It is invaded by many famous emperors and rulers because of historical and geographical significance. From Alexander the Great to the Mongols many leaders attacked Sindh to acquire its resources. It came under the control of various different empires that is the reason Sindh shares versatile and diverse culture and traditions many nations show resemblance with it, and resonate with its core values.

Many times Sindh has been attacked by invaders. Initially, Muhammad Bin Qasim started a military expedition around 708 A.D. to attack Sindh. They attacked key Debal seaport where many soldiers massacred. Subsequently, many key cities Debal, Aror and Nirun came under the sway of Arabs domination after bloodshed battles. When Muhammad Bin Qasim defeated Raja Dahir he decapitated him with his head latter sent to the Hajjaj Bin Yousuf the ruler of Iraq who ordered to start this military expedition in order to extend influence and control over trade routes, eliminating threats of pirates while trading in the East Asia. Moreover, the invasion was carried out to recover Muslims women and resources looted by the pirates in the vicinity of the seaports of Sindh

It was a display of brutally annexation by Umayyad ruler Muhammad Bin Qasim who saw the opportunity to take advantage of the weak political and administrative system of Sindh. He along with its ruthless army inundates Sindh with the pretext of releasing captive women who were enslaved by the Raja Dahir forces. In order to free these women, they dispatched the army to attack Sindh, in which they fought many battles with each other killing fighters from each side. Hence, Qasim’s army became victorious in the battlefield. They completely controlled the administration and political affairs of Sindh. Hence, it marked the beginning of Muslims domination in South Asia.
